Nick Veasey

Nick Veasey is a photographer who specialises with using x-ray technology.  He aims to show a little bit more about what the natural and manufactured world is made up of, and encourage people not to look at only the outward appearance.  The process of using x-rays is very dangerous and so Veasey works in a custom made concrete studio where the radiation can be contained.  http://www.nickveasey.com/

Warhorse

Based on a book by Michael Morpurgo, Warhorse is one of the most stunning shows on in London at the moment. It tells the story of a loved horse called Joey that is sold to the calvary in World War One and his owners battle to find him and bring him home. The show features life size wooden puppets that are controlled by three actors per horse. The characterisation  of each horse is amazing, capturing the movement and nature of the animals as if there were real horses on stage. Warhorse is currently showing at the National Theatre.

Architectural Representation

This video shows the final animation on my architectural model that concluded the Architectural Representation unit. It was a six week project and although it is not a very good quality video it is just a quick example of one of the projects that I have been working on recently. This model was made as a group. For the whole architectural unit we were split into groups and we worked on three different projects together.

Richard Rogers Architects

This video shows an urban planning model that was on show in the Richard Rogers exhibition at the Design museum in 2008. The lights and animation in the baseboard are used for several different purposes, showing transport routes, different types of buildings and even the travel of the sun across the sky during a day, which illustrates the shadows cast by the buildings.

Very cool architectural model with video display from Matt Perdeaux on Vimeo.

Daniel Mackie

Beautiful hand drawn illustrations combined with watercolours. His work was recently used with the Google logo depicting a red devil.

Media Solutions

This is my final outcome for the Media Solutions unit that I did at the end of my first year on the Bournemouth Modelmaking course.  We had to read three books and choose something to make from one of them. I chose  to make Lucy's Glass flask from the Narnia books.  The main body is Vac formed PETG and the mouldings I sculpted out of milliput and painted with a rustic effect, the stopper is a bead that was drilled into on the lathe so that a cork could be attached.

Character Sculpt - Marvin the Martian

This was my first ever try at sculpting anything and was an exercise in using three different sculpting materials, milliput, sculpy and plastiline.  We were marked on accuracy, finish and consistency.

Slinkachu

This photograph is an image from a series entitled "Little people project" in which the artist Slinkachu places small figures in street scenes in an attempt to make those who live in big cities more aware of their surroundings.  I love the element of humour that he has used in his work.

Cardboard Cassette Tape

This was my first project in my first year on the Modelmaking course at AUCB. We had 2 weeks to make a scaled version of our objects aiming to keep it as clean and as accurate as possible.

Sony Bravia ad

This advert is from 2007 and is pretty well known but I absolutely love the production of it and this video, although quite long, helps to explain how it's done. Really makes you think about how much work goes into things. Awesome.

My first Blog and first post...
I have set up this blog as a way for me to research and learn about different artists, model makers, sculptors and anything else in the creative industry that interests me. Its also a space for me to show my work to friends, family and anyone else who is interested.
